Cafe Gitane

Today is my birthday! A very big one I might add. To celebrate, we left the kids with our fantastic babysitter and stayed in this boutique hotel in my favorite neighborhood and went to all my favorite places. We had dinner at Lucien which my friend says is like going to Paris without the airfare, breakfast at Cafe Gitane, more coffee at Cafe Habana then had my eyebrows shaped and color tweaked at Browhaus. They look great by the way - so worth it. We had such an awesome time. I think it was by far my favorite birthday ever. Sadly though, Ñ, our favorite little tapas bar closed. So very sad. Rest in peace Ñ.

There is something magical and other worldly about a light instillation. I saw a couple of really great ones this year at David Zwirner gallery. I took my 6 year old son, Luca, to see LC 71 NY DZ 13 DW by Doug Wheeler and he loved it. We felt like we were walking on the moon. Unfortunately I missed the Madison Square public art project Scattered Light by Jim Campbell. What an awesome gift to the public.

I'm always asked if I like living in New York. The answer is I LOVE living in New York. Honestly though, sometimes this city can chew me up and spit me out faster than I can blink which makes me think of this hilarious article. Personally, I've found the key to a balanced life in the city is to get out into nature as much as possible. Luckily I live only a short walk to Central Park. My dog Lola and I wake up early most mornings and take a long walk in the park before I walk my son to school. Here are some beautiful images taken early today along our path. By the way, the park is absolutely gorgeous right now.
